This well known property at the southwest corner of East Bay Street and Broad Street is best known as the State Bank of South Carolina. The original grant was to Jacob Waite in 1680 but then regranted to Benjamin Schenckingh in 1696. By 1723 there was a brick dwelling house with adjoining brick storehouses.
